On Wednesday 21st June, the Archbishop of York Youth Trust will be at Birchwood Park, Warrington WA3 6YN to host a regional conference for Headteachers across Merseyside, Wigan and Warrington.

The conference has been organised in partnership with the Diocese of Liverpool’s Education team and will be attended by 42 delegates representing local primary schools.

The conference will provide an opportunity for Headteachers to learn more about the Young Leaders Award for Key Stage 2, to hear stories of the effect it has had in developing young people and to consider how it might benefit their pupils and schools.

Joining members of the Youth Trust team on the day will be Richard Peers, Director of Education for the Diocese of Liverpool and Bishop Richard Blackburn, Bishop of Warrington who will deliver the keynote speech.  Delegates will hear from Fiona Cottam, Headteacher and Emma Stone, teacher, at Aughton St Michael’s CE Primary School as they share their experiences of running the Young Leaders Award for the past four years.

“The Young Leaders Award supports the Church of England’s new vision for education, entitled, ‘Deeply Christian, Serving the Common Good’, by providing opportunities for schools to educate for: Wisdom, Hope, Community and Dignity.I’m looking forward to hearing more about how these Awards are helping to deliver this vision across our schools in many different settings.”

To date the Youth Trust have enrolled over 450 Primary and Secondary schools to the Young Leaders Awards, empowering some 50,000 young people to put leadership into action and make a difference in other people's lives through acts of service and community volunteering.
