The Archbishop of York’s Youth Trust is challenging Young Leaders to reflect more on the Christmas story as part of their Advent preparations this year.
The Trust have developed free online resources, exploring how the gifts of Hope, Peace, Joy and Love can be shared with others in practical ways.
The Archbishop said:
“I love Advent – it is a wonderful season of watching and waiting. The Christmas Story is the greatest story ever told and it is one to stir the soul and lift our spirits. Each week the Youth Trust’s resources will unwrap something from the Christmas story to help us prepare for the coming of Jesus into the world. The Advent Unwrapped resources include a short introduction to the theme of the week, a link to a bible passage, practical tasks, reflective challenges and a prayer. They can be used in a classroom or as part of collective worship. All tasks can be completed individually, as a group or a class. Advent Unwrapped resources are available to all."
Mrs Brenda Christison, Headteacher at Naburn Church of England Primary School said:
“The resource is amazing! It is refreshing - so full of new ideas and practical ways to help others this Advent. I will be using it in Collective Worship, teachers will certainly use it in the classrooms and we will send the ideas out to parents too. I particularly like the reflective side to this resource and this aspect fits perfectly with our whole school focus on mindfulness. This is especially relevant at this busy time of year.”
