Fifty Four Pupils from Archbishop of York Church of England Junior School, Bishopthorpe complete a DIY challenge as part of their Young Leaders Awards at Key Stage 2. Having already learned about what it takes to Be the Change You Want to See the learners set about improving the facilities for Bishopthorpe pre-school playgroup, repainting the shed, weeding the field and planting some lovely lavender.
Head teacher, Jonathan Green, said
"The Young Leaders Award is all about 'being the change you want to see' and by taking on this DIY action project, pupils from the school are doing just that, making the world a better place to be".
Pupil Robert Nesom said
"We divided into teams for fundraising, gardening, design, litter, improving safety, planning and communications so that the action project could go ahead. We've been working really hard and there's been a lot to get done."
