KS2 Young Leaders support Alder Hey Children's Hospital

Year 4 pupils from St Gabriel's C of E Primary School, Liverpool were inspired to take action to support the work of Alder Hey Children’s Hospital through taking part in the KS2 Archbishops’ Young Leaders Award.

The pupils gathered brand new toys over a range of weeks working hard to ask friends and family for donations. Some children also bought toys using their own pocket money.

Class volunteers extended the project out to staff and pupils across the school demonstrating leadership and organisation skills. Alongside this, the pupils organised a pyjama non-uniform day to raise awareness and support for the charity.

Pupils then visited Alder Hey Children's Hospital to deliver their collected toys as gifts for children in the hospital.

"The award allowed me to make a difference."

"This award was so fun, I loved it"

Their teacher shared how this project had allowed the children to develop and grow in skills including teamwork, using their initiative and listening. They also showed great kindness and compassion for others through their actions.

The project is a wonderful example of pupils ‘being the change they want to see’.
