York MP Hugh Bayley met Year Five young from Clifton Green Primary School to listen to their views on how to improve their local area.
As part of the Archbishop of York Young Leaders Award the children were encouraged to “be the change you want to see”. Megan Long, ten, wrote to Mr Bayley to invite him to attend a number of community events in the Clifton area and to put forward some suggestions on how to improve the neighbourhood.
Mr Bayley said:
“It is great when young people take an interest in the world around them and they really can make a difference if they have practical ideas and push hard for them. Projects like picking up litter and removing graffiti can totally transform a neighbourhood."
