On Monday 9 September 2019, 10 York businessmen will begin a six-day trek from Bishopthorpe Palace in York to Lambeth Palace in London to fundraise for the Archbishop of York Youth Trust.
Starting from Bishopthorpe Palace in York with the Archbishop of York sending the team off with prayers, Ian Walker, Matt Rylatt, Chris Ray, Mick Fox, Paul Morris, George Ray, Ian Ray, Josh Gladstone and Nick Blake will begin their half walk, half cycle down south. Dan Finn, CEO of the Youth Trust, will also be joining them for the trek.
The team is taking on this gruelling 255-mile challenge, including a 70-mile bike ride on one day alone, to raise funds and awareness of the Archbishop of York Youth Trust.
The Youth Trust is passionate about developing opportunities for young people to grow in leadership, faith and character, in partnership with schools, churches and communities. Through the Young Leaders Award, the Youth Trust have empowered over 83,000 young people from over 700 schools to learn and practice key leadership and character skills, to make a difference in the lives of the people around them.
Returning to York on Saturday 15 September, they hope to have raised over £10,000 for the Youth Trust’s work in empowering generations of young leaders to ‘be the change they want to see’ in their communities.
Stewart Graham, Director of Fundraising for the Youth Trust said:
“A sincere thank you to the team taking part in the Trek to fundraise for the Youth Trust. This team have been training and preparing for the trek for many months, it’s going to be a great achievement for them! Their backing is enabling us to empower even more young people to grow in leadership, faith and character, and transform society. We’re looking forward to following the journey as they go!”
