Dan Finn, Ian Walker, Matt Rylatt, Mick Fox, George Ray and Josh Gladstone all completed the 4 day challenge. Chris Ray, Jon Greenwood, Phil Taylor, Paul Morris and Samuel Baines also volunteered to join the trek for parts of the route. Fundraising support is still coming in but it looks like the event will have raised £5000 for the Trust.
Dan Finn, the Director of the Youth Trust, said: “Our longest cycle ride was 70 miles on day 2, through some driving rain along the Woodhead Pass. The 50-mile walk spread over days 3 and 4 as we walked from Doncaster to Goole, then from Goole to York and was really tough-going. I am thankful for the encouragement from the team and for the messages of support we received. The two Young Leaders, George and Ray, who completed the trek were incredible and it was a truly exhilarating feeling when we all returned to Bishopthorpe Palace. Thank you to all who have supported the Trust including; Neil Tappin (NGT Products Ltd); Simon Morris (Simon Morris Transport Ltd) for ferrying around our bikes; Lisa & Steve Laidler (Cygnet Wealth Management Ltd) and David Lapish for offering support along the route.”
The purpose behind this trek was to raise funds for the Young Leaders Award to set up a bursary fund that will enable the Award to be offered and delivered to young people in some of the most deprived areas of the north of England.
