The Archbishop of York today opened the ‘Archbishop’s Suite’ in the HIVE at Manor CE Academy by signing the message of his Youth Trust ‘Be the Change You Want to See’ on the wall of the building. He was joined by Year 10, Year 8 and Year 7 students completing the Archbishop of York Young Leaders Award.
The Archbishop said, “My Youth Trust message is all about being the change you want to see. By writing this message on this wall at the new conference suite – it will encourage young people here to make positive changes. The Young Leaders Award is taught in these fantastic facilities. I’m excited to catch up with some of students today and am pleased that even more students have signed up for next year. It is good news and as Christians we should be the good news to others!”
The Hive was built last year and it has a purpose-built theatre, a rehearsal studio, the Archbishop’s Suite which is a conferencing venue, and The Gallery, an open gallery area with coffee bar and seating.
Brian Crosby Headteacher said: “I am delighted that many speakers have chosen our first-class conference facilities. Speakers have included an ex political prisoner from Chile - Pedro Gonzalas, the International Justice Mission Ambassador - Hannah Flint, Fairtrade CEO - Harriet Lamb and Senior Election Adviser for the UN - Martina Duettmann. We look forward to welcoming many more guests to Manor CE Academy and following in the Archbishop’s footsteps, I’ll be encouraging others to sign an inspiring quote too”
