In the last week of the summer term Archbishop Holgate's School, York, were delighted to welcome almost 100 members of local churches and the wider community to have afternoon tea in the school hall. This was hosted by members of Year 8 as part of their Young Leaders Award volunteering. Beforehand students had created bunting, posters, table decorations, thank-you cards, a quiz, cakes, sandwiches and delicious strawberry meringues. During the afternoon event they served refreshments, performed musical pieces, ran a game of bingo, organised the raffle, and socialised with their guests.
Here are two examples of the wonderful feedback received:
"The Year 8 students were exemplary, polite, thoughtful and took their roles seriously. The musical performances were also much appreciated. It's lovely to see young people contributing enthusiastically in such a positive way."
"I would like to say what a wonderful treat the school prepared for the Community, thank you very much for inviting us. The students worked very hard and were extremely attentive to our needs. Please convey our thanks to them all for their efforts in providing a most delicious Afternoon Tea."
The day was definitely greatly enjoyed by all who participated, young and old alike.
